6 Types of Landscape Lighting

As the summer months get closer and your family begins to migrate to the outdoors more and more, it may be time to consider lighting up your yard. Here at Paradise Landscaping, we know the value of having the appropriate landscape lighting installed around your home. Not only is the location of your lighting important, but also the type of lighting, the quality of the lighting, and even the purpose. Here are six types of lighting you can have installed around your home, and why it's important.

Downlight

Are you looking for a light that would cast light from a high position? Downlights are often attached to tree trunks or branches from up high to be aimed down at lawns, paths, or even the tree's own foliage to create a moonlit effect. You won't want to skimp on materials with this type of lighting so you don't have to have them repaired frequently.

Flood

Flood lighting generally casts a wider beam than bullet lighting, and it is brighter than wash lighting. A collar minimizes the glare that this light could produce, and you'll want to have it installed sparingly to light up tall trees or wide house facades.

Wash

Wash lighting throws out a soft, diffused light that is ideal for brightening flat facades, privacy fences, and even garden walls. It can be hard to decide what type of lighting is important in your space, and Paradise Landscaping would love to share our knowledge with you.

Garden

This type of lighting is ideal for gardens and pathways. They sit about 18 to 24 inches off of the ground and cast a beautiful light below them. Unlike many other types of lighting their style and color are boldly on display and can look beautiful in your Lake of the Ozarks landscape.

Bullet

Bullet lights are very versatile, compact fixtures and are often fitted with bulbs that project a narrow beam. This is perfect for areas where you need precise lightings around your landscape, such as house features, tree trunks, and garden structures.

Well

On well lights, the bulb is set down inside a waterproof fixture that is buried in the ground. You can get light without seeing the fixture. Well, lights can be used to illuminate the underside of plant foliage or light the base of a facade or wall. They can have fixed bulbs or swiveling bulbs depending on the need.
