5 Things to Check BEFORE Opening Your Pool
Check the pool cover and remove any debris that may be sitting on it.
We know you may be in a rush to yank off that pool cover but take your time. Remove anything that may be sitting on top of it, such as leaves, pool toys, rocks, etc. You don't want this falling into your pool.
Check to see what pool chemicals you have on hand.
You most likely have some pool chemicals left over from last year, so keep track of what you have and purchase the chemicals you need ahead of time.
Check the water levels.
The goal is to keep your water levels somewhere in between one third and one half of your pool skimmer. Your pool shouldn't be empty unless you are having work done to it.
Check your pool deck for potential safety hazards.
Clear your pool deck of anything someone may trip on. Make sure your deck paint looks fresh, no one wants to stub their toe on a paint chip.
Check your pool pump to be sure it's working properly.
Your pump has been sitting for many months, it's a good idea to check it ahead of time to make sure it still works. If it doesn't you are giving yourself plenty of time to get it fixed.
