Spring Has Sprung, Or Will Soon!

These warm days that we've been experiencing are a great reminder that spring will be here before we know it. All of our designs are custom creations, and will be made for your yard based on what you need and want.

The Early Bird Gets The Worm

As the old adage states, the earlier you get started, the better. As the warm days start to arrive, homeowners at the lake of the Ozarks are going to begin thinking about their landscapes. If you wait until it's too late, you may not be able to make the list for early spring landscaping. Because all of our designs are custom creations, they take time, to make sure that your Lake of the Ozarks landscape design is perfect. Call us today and get your spot on the waiting list now.

Custom, Hand-Drawn Designs

Rick Harris, our designer has spent the last 46 years learning and knowing what and how large plants will become. All of this experience assists Rick in developing hand drawn landscapes in full color ... these are the ultimate landscape designs. While he has kept up with the times, learning landscape design on computers and visual software, he still believes that the time-tested custom hand drawn designs are the best. His hand drawn designs show a personality and feel that the computerized designs do not. As Rick says, “no landscape design (and, therefore, the planting of that design) is a custom landscape design without the input of the client”. We know that we can create a much better landscape design for our clients if we can talk to them and get their ideas of what they want. So if you are interested in a landscape design that fits your home and lifestyle – call Rick for an appointment.

3 Reasons You Need to Have Your Snow Removed

Winter can come at us in full swing, and while it feels like it will be over soon, there is, at least, one more month that we'll have to prepare for Old Man Winter to show his face.  While snow can look so romantic and peaceful from the comfort of your living room with a coffee and blanket, once you have to step out into it - it can seem treacherous! Here are a few reasons why you'll want to have your snow removed on your private property or commercial.

We all know that ice and snow can be dangerous. Whether there is a layer of ice under the snow, or just a slick layer of ice covering your sidewalks and driveway. It can be dangerous just trying to get to your car, much less actually trying to drive it. Having a professional snow removal team at the Lake of the Ozarks can make all the difference when you want to stay safe.

It's a Lot of Work

It can be a lot of work to remove the snow on your sidewalks, and even more, work to remove the snow from your driveway. While it may take hours to remove the snow from your driveway, it can take even longer to clear your parking lots. Paradise Landscaping has plows and trucks to make this process easier and faster. We'll have your parking lot cleaned and salted before you know it!

Protect Your Customers

If you have a business, it's extremely important to have not only your sidewalks cleared, but also your parking lot. Also, the longer your customers can't get into your parking lot, the longer you won't have business coming in. Call us the minute your lot starts to get bad so you can be added to our list.

Enhance Your Landscape With a Butterfly Garden

It may feel like the dead of winter here at the Lake, but spring will be here before you know it. Whether you want to upgrade the plants in your landscape, or completely revamp your paradise with a water feature, Paradise Landscaping can help. A fun garden to incorporate into your landscape is a butterfly garden. Butterfly gardens incorporate specific plants and flowers that attract butterflies, moths, hummingbirds and bees. It can make for a summer afternoon, sitting back and watching these beautiful insects drift by on lazy summer days. Here are a few beautiful plants that will attract these colorful creatures.

About Butterfly Gardens

In order to make your garden successful, you have to have host plants and nectar plants. The host plants allow the butterflies to lay their eggs in your garden, which creates a life cycle. After many years, you could have generations of butterflies coming back to your garden. Butterflies typically lay their eggs in late spring, and the eggs hatch 3–6 days after they are laid. It takes 3–4 weeks for a caterpillar to pupate and 9–14 days to emerge as an adult. It's best to either plant your garden in the early spring or in the fall. So now is the time to schedule time with the best landscapers at the Lake of the Ozarks!

5 Landscape Lighting Mistakes You Don't Want to Make

While landscape lighting may seem like it's merely for looks, it's also functional as well. Landscape lighting can also allow you to enjoy your outdoor space for more hours a day because you can still be outside at night. There are a few important details to note before you have your lighting installed, though. From selecting the wrong size fixture to not investing in the appropriate bulbs. Here are five landscape lighting mistakes that you don't want to make when having your yard professionally landscaped at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Selecting Fixtures that are Too Small

It's important to consider the size of your landscape when choosing your lighting. Whether you are going to have lights installed around your water feature, or you want to put a large post light by your sidewalk - keep the size in mind. While you may be trying to save money initially, after it's installed the only thing you'll be able to notice, is that it's dwarfed in size by your bushes. If you want lighting installed, create a budget and get the correct size for your yard.

Over Lighting Your Landscape

There is such a thing as "over lighting" you landscape. Not only can you have too much lighting, but you can also have those lights arranged incorrectly, or aimed the wrong direction. This can make it difficult to see when you're walking through your yard. If your lights are aimed incorrectly, it can mean that your lights could be shining through your neighbors windows, or even blinding people who drive past. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. Rely on the expertise of you Lake of the Ozarks landscaper and we'll create a space that everyone will love.

Skimping on Automated Sytems

Have you ever come home at night and realized that you forgot to turn the outdoor lights on? Now you're stumbling down the sidewalk in the dark with your bags of groceries, wishing that you had installed the automated lights. Automated lighting systems aren't just practical, but they are economical. By having your lighting on a timer, you are eliminating the possibility of having to pay for your electric lights being on when you don't need them.

Purchasing Poor Quality Fixtures

A major mistake you can make when you are purchasing fixtures to choose the low quality pieces. While you may save money at the start, you won't feel the same when you have to replace every year or two. Paradise Landscaping is proud to be a preferred vendor for Kichler LED lighting. They provide decorative path and spread, low profile hardscape, water feature, deck and accent lighting. They also offer a 15 year or 40,000 hours warrenty for whichever comes first.

Not Investing in LED

LED lighting isn't just the trendy thing to do when it comes to light fixtures. It's a wonderful inovation that has many benefits. Here are just a few things you may want to know about LED lighting:

LEDs are cooler - LEDs run cooler than incandescent bulbs, and significantly cooled than CFLs.

Instant light - When you turn on an LED bulb, you get the full light immediate. Compared to the CFL where it has to warm up, plus if a CFL is on for less than 15 minutes, it's life is degraded.

LEDs don't attract bugs - Many LED lights do not give off ultraviolet light, and that's what bugs are attracted to.
