Keep the Pests Away from Your Landscape with These Plants
Citronella is great for keeping the mosquitos away! It masks the scents that attract mosquitos, mainly the carbon dioxide and lactic acid we produce. It can grow to a height of about 5 to 6 feet and you can either plant it in a pot or directly in the group with other plants. We can position this plant, however, suits your particular paradise the best.
While rosemary is a great herb to have around for cooking purposes, it can also help keep mosquitoes, flies, ants, and other insects away. When planting rosemary, it's important that the seeds are planted at least 2 to 3 feet away from one another.
Lavender can repel moths, flies, fleas, and mosquitoes. It should be planted in sunny areas to grow the best and to keep pests away. Try planting it:
- Near your entryway
- Near windows
- Near the back door
...to keep pests from entering your home.
While cats clearly love catnip, it's also a great natural insect repellant. Catnip grows like weeds. It should be planted in spring after the last frost and spaced 18 to 24 inches apart.
