It's National Garden Week! (First Full Week of June)

This week is National Garden Week, so it's an exciting time for the best landscaping company at the Lake of the Ozarks because we have laid down quite a few garden beds for our customers. It's always a joy to build home paradises for our customers and have a part in them enjoying themselves whether they live here seasonally or full time. In honor of National Garden Week, Paradise Landscaping is here to give you a few garden design tips.

Garden Design Tips

Tip #1
Watch the width of your pathways.
Keep in mind, if you are planning to start a huge garden this year, your pathways should be wide enough for 2 people to walk through side by side. If you're working this hard on your beautiful garden, you may want to show it off too. We suggest creating pathways throughout your garden that are no less than 5 feet wide for comfort.

Tip #2
Be strategic with the plants you choose, some create more comfort than others.
Tall shrubs can provide shade, evergreens can protect your garden from heavy winds, and tall ornamental grasses can provide privacy if planted and cared for correctly.

Tip #3
Keep “your view” in mind.
Plants grow to be tall, so don't plant them in a place where your beautiful view of the Lake may be blocked in the future.

Tip #4
Make sure your steps throughout your garden are secure.
There's nothing worse than taking a friend through a garden to show them the incredible progress it has made, and they trip over a poorly placed stone step. If you are unsure as to what to do to secure it, call Paradise Landscaping. We can help.

Tip #5
Give your flowers or vegetables plenty of room to grow.
You don't want your flowers and vegetables growing too close to each other. That can cause problems for you in the future, so keep that in mind when planting them.

Pool Maintenance FAQs

There's nothing worse than being ready for a pool party but realizing your pool filter doesn't work or realizing green algae has grown inside your pool. How gross is that? Problems like this can be prevented by regular pool maintenance at the Lake of the Ozarks. For pool maintenance, you can count on, call Paradise Landscape, Irrigation, & Pool Maintenance at Lake of the Ozarks at 573-964-6515. Keep reading for a few answered frequently asked questions regarding pool maintenance.

Pool Maintenance FAQs

Q: How do I know how long to run my pool pump for?

A: It depends. The piping size, pool size, and swimmer load determine how long you should run your pool pump for. Typically, it's safe to run your pump for about one hour for every ten degrees of temperature.

Q: How do I know when to clean my pool filter?

A: The pool filter plays an important role in keeping your pool sanitary. There are different kinds of pool filters and they each require regular cleaning and the more you use your pool the more often it will probably need to be cleaned. If you find an increase in flow between the pressure gauge and flow meter, that could sign you to clean your filter.

Q: How do I know if my pool has too much chlorine in it?

A: If your pool looks cloudy, it could mean there is too much chlorine in it. If you are unsure about the chlorine levels in your pool, it's best to call a professional pool maintenance company at the Lake of the Ozarks and consult with them. Too much chlorine in your pool could cause the following:
  • Red eyes for swimmers
  • Skin irritation for swimmers
  • Greenish looking hair for blonde haired swimmers

When, How, and Why to Irrigate Your Lawn Properly

Those warmer months are now upon us and irrigating your lawn properly is more important than ever, but how will you go about it? Irrigating your lawn isn't as simple as just as watering it in the morning once a month or so, there's a process for getting it done properly. If you find yourself not having the time to do this yourself, call Paradise Landscaping at 573-964-6515 today for your free quote. Paradise Landscape, Irrigation, and Pool Maintenance is well known as the best landscape company at Lake of the Ozarks ... and it's no accident! Keep reading to learn when, how, and why to irrigate your lawn properly.

When, How, and Why to Irrigate Your Lawn Properly

When to Irrigate Your Lawn

Every lawn is different and "the when" behind watering or irrigating lawns can differ depending on the type of soil. For example, clay soil lawns tend to respond best to being watered once a week. However, it can be difficult to remember to do that on your own each week, so having an automatic sprinkler system installed could be the best option for you, especially if this is for your vacation home.

How to Irrigate Your Lawn

It can be very easy to over water or under water your lawn if you are not careful. The best way to go about irrigating your lawn involves knowing yourself. If you are the type of person who is easily distracted and could forget about your hose being on, then invest in a timer that connects to your hose. You can program it to only water your lawn for a specified time of your choosing, thus allowing you to go about your day without worrying about over watering your lawn.

Why Irrigate Your Lawn

Neglecting to water or irrigate your lawn can lead to an eyesore surrounding your home and who wants that? Make your home more inviting and have a lush, healthy-looking lawn by assuring it's irrigated in the proper way.

Interested in Having the Professionals Irrigate Your Lawn for You?

Keep your landscape lush with an irrigation system. Proper irrigation is needed to assist in the growing and maintenance of landscapes during periods of inadequate rainfall. Paradise Landscaping can install a quality irrigation system for you at an affordable price. How to Give Your Mother Her Dream Flower Garden

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, falling on Sunday, May 13 this year. That’s only about 1 week away! Do you know what you are getting your mother for Mother’s Day yet? What mom doesn’t love flowers on Mother’s Day? Planted flowers tend to last a lot longer than flowers wrapped in plastic and handed to someone. Paradise Landscape, Irrigation, & Pool Maintenance is here to give you a few tips to give your mother her dream flower garden this year. If this sounds like too much work that you either don’t have time for or is too labor intensive, don’t worry, the best landscaping company at the Lake of the Ozarks has you covered. Keep reading for a few flower suggestions for this time of year.

Spring Flowers for Your Mother’s Garden

Pansy
Pansies are annual flowers that are great to plant in early spring and watch as they bloom and grow throughout the year. This flower grows best in moist soil in sunny so partly shaded areas. They grow to about 10 inches tall and 12 inches wide.

Hellebore
These flowers can bloom with beautiful shades of white with splashes of pink, yellow or maroon. Hellebores are deer-resistant and grow best in partly shaded areas.

Stella D’Oro Daylily
These little beauties are bright yellow and grow in the spring through the summer. They tend to bloom again in early fall.

Yellow Trillium
This flower is another yellow beauty. Once this flower plant dies at the end of spring the foliage recedes as well. The Yellow Trillium does best in shady areas.

Viola
Is your mother a lover of purple? Then the Viola can be perfect to go in her Mother’s Day garden. While the Viola grows in purple, it can bloom into mixes of white, blue and yellow.
